Boarding School of Nahdlatul Ulama Always Consistent with Nationalism

At a time when some of the younger generation are forgetting the song Indonesia Raya, some Indonesians left the Independence Day ceremony, the pesantren (Boardcing School) as a typical Indonesian educational institution continued to hold its 74th Independence Day. The kyai, grand Syekh or Leader of Boarding Scholl, even before independence, instilled a love of the motherland for their students. Because love for the motherland is a part of faith. Even today, the cultivation of a sense of patriotism continues to be carried out in Islamic boarding schools.

Even though pesantren are not a formal state or government institution, they carry out the independence ceremony to commemorate the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day. Currently there are many pesantren, especially under the auspices of NU, in the organization of the Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah, the commemoration of the anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is an obligation. Some are simple, some are lively, some are making events so interesting.

Through the ceremony, the students were invited to commemorate the services of the Indonesian heroes who had fought for the independence. Moreover, many kyai and santri (studen of boarding school) were involved in the struggle. As the next generation, continuing the struggle of the martyrs is an obligation that must be borne by the students and all elements of the Indonesian nation. For the students, Indonesia is the legacy of the kyai, therefore it must be preserved and built as hard as possible and as well as possible.
